Disable the nouveau driver for NVIDIA graphical card
apt remove nvidia* apt autoremove apt update apt install dkms build-essential linux-headers-$(uname -r) echo options nouveau modeset=0 | tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/nouveau-kms.conf update-initramfs -u
blacklist the nouveau driver
nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-nouveau.conf
blacklist nouveau blacklist lbm-nouveau options nouveau modeset=0 alias nouveau off alias lbm-nouveau off
Install backports kernel
Look for the latest kernel:
apt-cache search -t stretch-backports linux-image-4. linux-headers-4.17.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 - Header files for Linux 4.17.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 linux-image-4.17.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 - Linux 4.17 for 64-bit PCs

Install the backports drivers for NVIDIA card
Stop the X-Server
/etc/init.d/gdm3 stop
Install the driver
apt install -t stretch-backports nvidia-driver reboot
